Overview
I chose the music of James Bond’s film for my record album cover. Because of the nature of my choice in music, and existing vinyl record of these songs did not previously exist, i.e. no previous cover design. I chose to invent the fictional record for the 55th Anniversary of James Bond.
I conducted initial research to determine how I wanted my cover to look, seeking out visual examples of album covers as well as research into James Bond films, lore, and musical composers and performers. I then did initial sketches to map out my idea, as well as did some typography and color studies.
I chose to go with a limited color palette of black, yellow, and white combined with black and white photography, recognizable film motifs/patterns and a stamp-like texture to create the record album of my dreams. There are things I would change about this project now that I’ve been in my career for several years, but I believe it’s kept most of its charm.
